Description
The Rochester City School District's district wide marching band, The Pride of Rochester is seeking a qualified color guard instructor for our upcoming spring season. The Color Guard Instructor, reporting directly to the band director, is responsible for teaching and choreographing routines for the marching band for our fall (Aug-Nov, Tues/Thurs/Sat) and spring (March-June, Thursday rehearsals, some Saturday performances) seasons. This role includes leading rehearsals, teaching dance and equipment fundamentals, assisting with drill design, and maintaining guard equipment and uniforms. The instructor will also supervise students during practices, classes, and performances, recruit new members, and support the overall artistic vision of the program. Strong communication, performance experience, and a background in color guard and/or dance are essential, with marching experience preferred.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated experience performing in and/or instructing color guard.
Proficiency in standard color guard equipment (flag, rifle, sabre) and movement fundamentals.
Experience working with middle school and/or high school–aged students.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and attend all required rehearsals and performances.
Successful completion of required background checks and district clearances.
