A Message from our Collegiate President:

Greetings,

The future of music education is us! As our world continues to embrace change we as collegiates must also adapt and prepare ourselves for our professional careers. What ways will you adapt to advance your craftsmanship?

The Executive Board and I are excited to take on this same question in order to better serve and benefit all of you. We have some initiatives/goals that include having a greater social media presence, re-envisioning the 2024 State Collegiate Conference, and also continuing the development of the online platform Past President, Emma Uruburu, initiated. This platform would allow us to learn from each other through submissions of ideas and/or finished products.

What we do to better our experience as college students is our choice. On behalf of myself and the remainder of the Executive Board, we are available to hear all about what will make your Collegiate NYSSMA experience more engaging and exciting.

Let’s make this year one where we build community, engage with purpose, and make meaningful music. And let us not forget that our future as music educators is bright as long as we shed our light on it. We all have a voice and place to be heard!

Hoping for a passion-filled and successful year with all of you. Let’s do this!

Welcome Back everyone!

Austin Stroup

A Message from our Collegiate Advisor:

Welcome to the Collegiate NYSSMA Webpage brought to you on behalf of NYSSMA and our state collegiate members and faculty advisors.

As you check out the webpage, take a few minutes to get to know your state representatives, review our handbooks and updates, social media links for our chapters, current and past newsletters, as well as any other information.

Across the state, our collegiate chapters have been recognized for their positive contributions to music education at local, state and national levels. This continued success speaks to the caliber of music education in the great state of New York.

I am proud of the work of our state collegiate officers, especially for their commitment to their peers, NYSSMA and NAfME, as well as bringing a 21st century perspective to the future of music education.

Sincerely,
Dr. Keith Koster
State Advisor for Collegiate NYSSMA (C-NYSSMA)
