Procedure
Students select music to study from teacher provided repertoire.
Students listen to a variety of performances that they will rehearse, perform, and critique.
As students listen to the recorded performances, they generate a list of criteria for their own/ ensemble's performance. The criteria is applied in individual, sectional or ensemble rehearsal.
Students record their performance and compare and contrast it to the model in their critical response (pair-share, group discussions). The collaborative discussion would include practice strategies for bringing their own performance closer to the model.
Students continue to reflect upon their own performance to align with established criteria.
Students record once again, noting areas that demobstrate improvement and those that require further refinement.
The process is repeated as time permits.
