Procedure

- Students and/or teacher select folk music from a variety of world cultures.
- Using any source (such as Internet, record stores, libraries, local
ethnic societies or clubs, personal record collections), students will
gather recordings of musical examples that are representative of their chosen cultures and create a playlist.
- Students will investigate and explore the music's role and meaning in its culture of origin and create and share program notes explaining what they learned.
- Students will perform an excerpt of folk music from that culture with teacher support.
