Procedure
Teacher provides a list of musical elements to focus student listening.
Students listen to a recording or watch a video of a piece studied in class.
Students will follow their parts while listening: mindful of the focused musical elements.
In pairs or small collaborative groups students discuss the performance based on those musical elements.
Students share out perceptions of the performance, teacher documents the perceptions, noting consensus among the collaborative groups.
Students develop an improvement plan based on their discussion, marking their music accordingly.
Over time, the music is rehearsed, refined and recorded.
