The Storm King School is a co-educational, independent boarding and day school serving 185 students in grades 8–12 from across the United States and more than 20 countries. Voice Teacher Key Responsibilities: Schedule and maintain weekly one on one voice lessons during the academic day, and send detailed invoicing and accounting to the School on a monthly basis Plan and teach chorus classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons Teaching voice parts to all students participating in the school musical; must be able to attend approximately 10 afternoon rehearsals from January - February Prepare students for OCMEA All-County auditions and NYSSMA solos, being available to be present on-site for both the All County and NYSSMA dates Develop a recital program and prepare students for 2 main recitals, commencement, as well as additional minor school performances; bring new performance ideas and opportunities to the program both on campus and off campus Salary and Benefits: All teaching duties are compensated per contracted hourly rate. Rates vary between classroom instruction time, private lessons, and musical rehearsals and performances, ranging from $40/hour-$100 hour.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of experience in choral instruction in a school
Extensive vocal performance, with choral education experience, MA in music education preferred
A strong understanding of choral ensembles, and the ability to adapt and create engaging rehearsals, ensembles and performance programs
Strong piano skills, with experience in accompaniment and accompaniment while conducting
Familiarity with preparing voice students for NYSSMA, All-County, and All-State
Musical theatre experience
Student centered-teaching praxis
Experience growing a choral program, with a focus on new performance opportunities and student retention
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a diverse community
Proficiency with technology; experience with music software
Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
