Westhill High School Probationary Appointment 2026-2027 School Year Vocal Music Teacher Certification Required: Music The position includes: High School Large Ensemble: Concert Choir with In-school pull-out lessons Music Theory I with the possibility of expanding the Theory program Teaching and coaching soloists NYSSMA level 3-All State and attending solo festivals Recruitment, retention, and re-recruitment Music Department collaborative work K-12, 5-12, and 9-12. Curriculum development and alignment as a Choral and full Music Department, vertically and horizontally Other considerations include attending professional development in-district and outside the district and as a participant in relevant associations, chaperoning students at honor ensembles. This position offers: Co-curricular ensembles: AmBASSadors (low voice choir), Trebleocity (high voice choir), Octane (8 musician SATB contemporary vocal ensemble), Westhill Singers (SATB chamber choir) Co-curricular Theater (Drama Club Fall Play) and Musical Theater (Masquers Winter Musical) leadership Opportunities to travel with Choral/HS Music Department with students for cultural and performance events Ideal Candidates will demonstrate: Piano proficiency for large group, chamber music, solo accompaniment Vocal proficiency and pedagogical excellence, including effective foreign language teaching skills
