Overview: The Léman Manhattan Preparatory School seeks a highly qualified and motivated Early Childhood/Elementary School General Music Teacher to be part of an exciting and collaborative Fine Arts Department. The successful candidate will be positive, collaborative, creative, organized, and passionate about student learning. They are an effective communicator and a reflective practitioner. Key Responsibilities: Teaches PreK3 through 3rd grade general music classes (violin component in grades 1-3) Directs 4th and 5th Grade Chorus ensembles Differentiates repertoire and teaching techniques to meet student needs Coordinates rehearsals and concerts Maintains consistent communication with families Maintains instruments/equipment and documents inventory Maintains choral music library Collaborates and contributes as a team member of the Fine Arts Department as well as the Early Childhood and Lower School faculty Utilizes learning management and student information systems provided by the school Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school; demonstrates behavior that is professional and ethical as identified in the Employee Handbook. Continues to grow professionally by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and/or participating in professional organizations Demonstrates flexibility and a positive attitude toward new challenges and growth opportunities Participates in school-wide events; attends school functions in support of school community (may include after-school hours) Completes a minimum of two duties as assigned by Division Head or supervisor (number of duties may vary depending on role) Attends and participates in all required faculty and staff meetings and serves on school committees as needed. Completes responsibilities as assigned by Division Head or direct supervisor based on student and school needs
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (Master’s Degree preferred)
Experience in teaching general music at the early childhood and elementary levels
Experience in directing elementary choral ensembles
Strong piano skills
Elementary level violin skills preferred
Familiarity with music education curriculum design
