Description
Seeking a charismatic, knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual who will share their passion and skills with our students through a growing Choral/Vocal Music program. This is a full elective program where beginners should be taught vocal music basics along with fundamental musicianship and literacy skills. You will also teach one Advanced Chorus section made up of current Choral students. The program may also include time allotted for small group vocal instruction. Many performance opportunities and requirements throughout the year, including Winter/Spring Concerts, NYSSMA Majors, Graduation and various smaller school community events. Optional involvement in school musicals and many opportunities for extracurricular music clubs/activities. Strong classroom management skills are necessary for our large, diverse and energetic student population and flexibility is key! Spanish language skills, while not required, are optimal, as we do have a large newcomer population. Your rapport with students is most important. Candidate must possess: Music K-12 NYS certification and be fingerprinted with the NYC DOE. Strong interpersonal skills plus the willingness to work collaboratively within our large Arts department. Understanding of how to meet the needs of multicultural students. Strong classroom management, vocal and piano skills. Versatility is a plus!
