Main Purpose of the Role: The Léman Manhattan Preparatory School seeks a Middle & High School Theatre Teacher to be part of an exciting and collaborative Fine Arts Department and Upper School Division. The Upper School Theatre Teacher teaches various Middle School and High School theatre classes and directs extracurricular productions. The successful candidate will be positive, collaborative, creative, organized, and passionate about teaching. They are an effective communicator and a reflective practitioner. Key Responsibilities: (The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role) -Teaches Middle School and High School Theatre classes -Directs curricular and extracurricular theatrical performances/productions. -Serves as an advisor in our advisory program -Is a collaborative, contributing team member of the Fine Arts Department as well as the Upper School faculty -Grows professionally in order to meet the changing responsibilities of the position -Utilizes learning management and student information systems provided by the school -Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school; demonstrates behavior that is professional and ethical as identified in Employee Handbook -Continues to grow professionally by participating in educational opportunities, reads professional publications, and/or participates in professional organizations -Demonstrates flexibility and a positive attitude toward new challenges and growth opportunities -Participates in school-wide events and functions in support of school community (may include after-school hours) -Completes a minimum of two duties as assigned by Division Head (number of duties may vary depending on role) -Attends and participates in all required faculty and staff meetings and serves on school committees as needed -Completes responsibilities as assigned by Division Head or direct supervisor based on student and school needs
Requirements
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
-Experience in teaching Middle and High School students
- Experience in teaching introductory to advanced level Theatre courses
-Experience in directing productions
-Familiarity with curriculum design
-Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
-Excellent interpersonal skills
-Commitment to the school’s mission, core values, and inclusion statement
