Description
The Norwich City School District seeks a 6 – 12 vocal music teacher for a probationary tenure-track position, beginning September 2023. The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to: • Effectively instruct and facilitate utilizing a music curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives • Facilitate and lead choral ensembles in grades 6-12 and instruct small group voice lessons • Instruct electives that enhance music comprehension, passion and production for all students • Collaborate with other professional music staff members and participate in faculty meetings and committees • Utilize technology to engage and enhance music passion and production • Lead and participate in extracurricular activities such as select choral ensembles, musical productions, NYSSMA festivals and community performances • Demonstrate a willingness to advocate for students when issues of equity emerge • Possess a proven ability to interact effectively with students and their families who represent cultures that are diverse in terms of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and other characteristics in order to build an effective and collaborative school community • Recognize trauma’s impact on the brain and how to support and be responsive to all learners • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping • Possess New York State Certification in Music (K - 12) The Norwich City School District is looking to grow professionals who are interested in: • Collaborative Professional Learning Communities • Responsive and personalized professional development specifically designed for new teachers • An innovative Multi-Tiered System of Support process focusing on an effective Tier 1 curriculum, social emotional well-being, family/community engagement and innovation • A supportive observational structure and culture • Competitive salary and benefits
