POSITION SUMMARY The Hewitt School seeks a part-time middle school choral teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Teach a half load of middle school choral courses (eight to ten classes per week across four grades) Direct a choral performance either in person or online at the end of each semester Integrate equity, diversity, and social-emotional learning into programming Collaborate with colleagues on pedagogy and curricular scope and sequence focused on standards and competencies Engage fully in Hewitt’s commitment to implementing current research on girls in the classroom and beyond Write student reports and stay in regular communication with parents and guardians Participate in admissions and parent education events Write entries for the weekly divisional newsletters about class activities as needed QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Demonstrated commitment to anti-bias education and social justice Bachelor’s degree in music, education, or related field Minimum of three to five years teaching experience with students in grades 5-8 Commitment to girls’ education QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED An advanced degree in music, music education, or related field Inquiry-based pedagogy Culturally responsive approach to teaching Fluency in multiple student-centered instructional approaches Commitment to student life Proven dedication to professional growth and purpose-driven practice Professional practice and ability to model contemplation as part of intellectual exploration TO APPLY: Please submit a resumé, cover letter, and examples of previous relevant work to employment@hewittschool.org. Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
