Description
The Music Academy Foundation is Long Island's Premier School for the Arts. Our comprehensive Musical Theatre Program stages two full productions per school year, one in the fall and one in the spring. We have a track record of success and excellence since 2015, and our facility is large and spacious making it an ideal teaching environment. As a non-profit, our priority is giving back to our community and "Changing Lives Through Music." Director duties include: - Running weekly small group classes with students from K-12. Classes meet Mondays from 5-9pm as well as periodic additional rehearsals throughout the school year and 1 full dress rehearsal before each show. - Assisting the Executive Director in choosing age and content appropriate musicals - Coordinating with the Musical Director once each show is selected - Preparing students for a stellar show each semester - Helping students reach their full potential as singers and musical artists - Other related duties to directing a musical theater program
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Required in theater or voice with a strong background in staging as well as performing in musicals. Master's degree preferred. All applicants must have a strong vocal background including classical and contemporary training and be comfortable as singers, actors, and choreographers. All candidates should love working with children and have a passion for the theater and for music education.
