GENERAL MUSIC TEACHER Columbia Grammar and Prep School seeks a part-time (60%), leave replacement 5th and 6th Grade general music teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of music pedagogy, ideally through experience with at least one prominent music education philosophy (Kodaly, Orff, MLT, etc.) although other backgrounds will be considered, a commitment to providing students with experiences of active music-making, and familiarity and comfort with both instructional and music technology tools. The position will require collaborative planning, and an enthusiasm for creating dynamic and imaginative musical experiences for children is highly valued. This position is for the fall semester, with the possibility to extend. A Bachelor’s degree in music is required, ideally in music education. RESPONSIBILITIES Support the CGPS mission Work collaboratively with the department to follow and design curriculum Be supportive of the CGPS equity, justice, and inclusion initiatives Meet individually with students for additional support as needed Create a positive classroom environment which fosters creativity and support Supervisory (lunch, study hall, etc.) duties as assigned HOW TO APPLY Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and resume to email@example.com.
