Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks an innovative and accomplished music educator to join our Performing Arts Department for the 2021-2022 school year. Our school places the health and well-being of its students at the center of its program, and the successful candidate will be able to reflect and demonstrate those priorities in their pedagogy. With primarily in-person instruction, MPH teachers prioritize the importance of building relationships with students in an intellectually and creatively playful environment. At Manlius Pebble Hill, arts education is central to our mission of inspiring students to think critically, act responsibly, and discover a passion for lifelong learning. Our vibrant performing arts program includes comprehensive instruction in band, chorus, orchestra, Suzuki strings, general music, music theory, theater, and dance. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will advise a group of 8-12 students and facilitate or co-facilitate two clubs. The ideal candidate will be creatively responsive to student interests and needs and have a demonstrated willingness to participate in the life of the school. Due to changing schedule needs for Covid-19 accommodations and a growing student body, the position's responsibilities are full-time but will be tailored to the ideal candidate's experience and specialty. Responsibilities may include teaching small instrumental lessons, conducting instrumental or choral ensembles, and music theory. The candidate will work collaboratively with performing arts colleagues and work across departmental lines, fostering teamwork and cooperation amongst faculty, staff, and administration. MPH offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package with the potential for growth depending on experience and qualifications. At least two years of classroom experience is preferred. A bachelor's degree in music education or music performance is required, and a master's degree is preferred. Candidates should email a cover letter, resume, educational philosophy statement, and contact information for two professional references to divisionheads@mphschool.org. Manlius Pebble Hill School has a long-standing commitment to the principles of equal employment opportunity. In keeping with this commitment, we will continue recruitment, employment, compensation, terms, conditions, and privileges of employment of qualified persons without regard to gender, race, sex, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other category protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
