Allendale Columbia School seeks an experienced and dynamic educator to join a team of professionals responsible for innovative, authentic, and student-centered learning; this appointment will begin August 2022. Major Areas of Responsibility: Teaching Middle School Choral Music, Foundational Music, and Music Electives, with the possibility of additional Lower School music classes per enrollment. Electives will be developed in collaboration with colleagues to ensure a diversity of music experiences; Assisting with Middle School/Upper School Musical during the school day and after school hours; Working in collaboration with the Head of the Middle School and AC Center Leaders, and music colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and appropriate implementation of student-centered learning; Duties that engage the student body, including a family-style lunch, being an advisor, and sponsorship of student activities like clubs or other student-run events; Organizing evening concerts and performances to showcase student musicians; Prepare students for and chaperone students to Monroe County School Music Association (MCSMA) and New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) festivals.
Bachelor’s Degree required with a Master’s Degree in a music field preferred;
Minimum of two years teaching and advising experience recommended;
An insatiable desire to learn and collaborate as well as a willingness to design new courses and curriculum;
A diverse musical background;
Passion for student-centered programs and project-based learning;
Be a team player willing to try innovative and creative ways to bring excitement to the music and theater program and to the AC Center for Creativity and Entrepreneurship.
