The Dryden Area Intergenerational Summer Band & Choir is seeking a band director for its 25th season in summer 2020. The band director is responsible for selecting repertoire, preparing and leading six band rehearsals, and conducting two concerts. The ideal candidate has strong musical and leadership skills with experience directing community or intergenerational instrumental ensembles and a passion for community music-making. The director should bring enthusiasm, patience, humor, joyfulness, and especially flexibility given the nature of the organization. The director will work with the organization’s board of directors to confirm operational and logistical details, but the board is ultimately responsible for rehearsal and concert venue arrangements. Collaboration with the director of the chorus is also expected, as the concerts are shared between the ensembles. A library of band repertoire is available to assist with music selections, although preferred candidates will have connections in the local school music community to potentially assist with borrowing music, percussion equipment, or instruments to loan to some participants for the summer. The director is expected to meet with representatives of the board of directors before and after the season to review relevant feedback and suggestions.
Rehearsals: 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and August 5 Concerts: Friday, August 7, 2019, 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 9, 2019, 3:00 p.m.
