The Role • Instrumental Music (Band) 4th grade to 12th grade • Teach an AP Music Theory Class, when offered, and possible other classes. • Ability to scope and sequence a multi-year instrumental music program • Ability to create two annual performances for a 4th grade band, 5-6 band, 7-8 band, and upper (high) school music ensemble and various other performance opportunities throughout the year • Teach small group lessons 4-8 grades • Opportunity to direct the pit for the annual musical and be involved in other extracurricular programs • Work with the other music faculty to create a comprehensive all school curricula. • Work with the Visual and Performing Arts and other departments’ teachers to create cross curricular projects. • Attend department meetings, open houses, annual fundraiser events, performances and the like. • May include additional duties outside the classroom such as bus dismissal and the like.


• Ability to provide appropriate educational content for each course
• Planning annual curriculum for each age group
• Establishing lesson schedules
• Cares about developing children
• Passion for the musical arts
• Flexible to adjust to whatever comes up each day
• Working with lower school to upper school aged students
• Directing musical ensembles
• Experience with jazz ensembles preferred
• Delivering small group lessons
• Ability to play/teach all woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments (strings a plus)
