As one of the oldest schools in the city, our school PS.20, os a vibrant and growing melting pot. Represented by more than 15 nations and languages between staff and students, we pride ourselves in our strong multicultural practices. Part of fostering a culturally intelligent school population is the work of deeply engaging our students in the arts that represent them and the culture of their peers.
Fostering a classroom culture in which students develop a love and appreciation for music from around the world and provide school community with meaningful musical experiences;
Engaging students with a repertoire that is relevant to their lives and interests;
Designing and executing professional-quality multicultural music performance opportunities for all scholars (at least twice annually: stepping up ceremonies, festivals);
Connect the students with the overall school program by applying other disciplines to learning music (Math, Literacy, Social Studies);
How to Apply
Preferred applicants should have the following experiences and characteristics:
Have educational and/or professional training in developing and implementing a music education program for children;
Have experience working with children and providing music instruction;
Have a background in music education;
Are passionate about music and learning.
