The Salvation Army is hiring! The Oswego, NY Corps is starting a brand new music education program, and is seeking a part-time Band Teacher. This position will have a work schedule of Tuesdays from 3:30pm - 6:30pm. The Band Teacher will develop and implement an instructional program/curriculum that accommodates multiple learning styles, allowing students to learn how to read music and play a musical instrument. Responsibilities Develop lesson plan content for program students of various ages and musical skill. Conduct group and/or individuals music lessons for various instruments. Assess performance and musical development of students; provide appropriate feedback to students in a timely manner. Ensure all classroom equipment, including musical instruments, are properly stored and safely maintained. Assist with transportation of students to and from learning site using Salvation Army Vehicle as needed. Communicate with Corps Officers regarding program successes and challenges
High School Diploma/GED and minimum three years’ experience teaching or assisting with musical instruction required.
Advanced degree or current enrollment in Music Education is preferred.
Ability to read music and play musical instruments.
Must possess valid driver’s license that passes The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and public in a professional manner.
